When Will Forbath Decide?

Kai Forbath has a tough decision to make. Will it be Notre Dame or UCLA? Forbath has not decided which school he will attend, and the decision is not becoming any easier.

If you are Kai Forbath life is good, sort of. The 6-1, 190-pound kicker from Sherman Oaks, Calif., (Notre Dame) is down to Notre Dame and UCLA. There are two questions that remain.

When will Forbath decide, and where is he going?

"That's a good question," Forbath said about his decision time frame after a long hesitation. "I'm down to UCLA and Notre Dame."

While Forbath admitted he did not when he would decide, he said he couldn't go wrong with either school.

"I went to UCLA's practice yesterday," Forbath said. "It was a good time."

What about Forbath's parents? Do they have a stake in his decision?

"They would kind of like me to stay close, but it's my decision."

SMITTY'S TAKE - I would say Notre Dame is on the outside looking in with Forbath, long term. When it comes to a California recruit, several factors must fall Notre Dame's way. And none of them currently do.

First, after an unofficial or official visit Notre Dame needs to be the out-right leader as a rule to land a California recruit. Didn't happen. Second, Notre Dame needs to win the parent battle in a land slide. Didn't happen.

In the end, it's hard for me to see Forbath going against UCLA when it's right down the road from his Sherman Oaks home and it is the "comfortable" decision.
