DJ Talks about ND Commitment

The long awaited "public" decision for Demetrius Jones is over. He has chosen Notre Dame.

As Demetrius Jones drives home from practice today he finally has something off his chest.

"Somewhat," Jones said of making his decision to attend Notre Dame. "It is a relief."

The pressure of competing for a state championship still looms, but one thing at a time.

"I'm going to Notre Dame here in a little bit," Jones said. "I'm not going to be there long though. I just want to take my mom to meet all of the coaches."

So what are Jones' goals for this upcoming season?

"Just to do better than I did last year. I don't want to throw out numbers or anything. Just to do better than last year. I don't care if I don't throw one touchdown pass all year as long as we win the state championship."

And which opponent does Jones and Morgan Park open up with?

"Mount Carmel. We're looking to beat them two years in a row. They have tradition, but we're building our own tradition here at Morgan Park."

SMITTY'S TAKE - It was obvious that Jones was indeed relieved to have his decision out of the way.
