Wade Ready for Action

Withrow High School begins starts another school year today. That signals the end of another summer vacation for its students, but for some it is a happy day, sort of.

College football is almost here, but until the opening kickoff there is still plenty of high school action to check out.

Notre Dame commitment Kallen Wade, DE, 6-5, 220-pounds, Cincinnati, Ohio, (Withrow) knows that with football there is a price.

"Today my summer vacation is officially over," Wade said with a sigh on Monday. "We start school tomorrow."

Yes, but that means football is here.

"Yeah, definitely."

Withrow scrimmaged Roger Bacon High School recently and it was a competitive game, but not the outcome Wade would hope for.

"Our defensive backs didn't play too well at the end of the game."

What about teammate Robert Williams, how did he play?

"They didn't throw to Robert's side of the field the whole game."

As for Kallen, he is geared up for the season to start.

"I heard they had some transfers come in that were pretty good, but I didn't really pay any attention to them. I was in football-mode and didn't really notice."

Withrow opens its season against Cincinnati Moeller this Saturday afternoon. It is part of a big day that will feature four games at Nippert Stadium, the home of the Cincinnati Bearcats.
