Olsen Impressed With Irish Victory

Eric Olsen will not be playing until this next weekend, but he did take the time to watch some college football this past Saturday. Olsen had some interesting comments regarding the Irish.

Eric Olsen, OL, 6-5, 298 pounds, Brooklyn, N.Y., (Poly Prep) attended the Notre Dame summer football camp this past summer. He was offered a scholarship by Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis this past month.

Notre Dame is now heavily involved with New York resident, and it appears that Olsen is will give Notre Dame strong consideration.

"I was impressed and excited for the Irish," Olsen replied when asked what he thought of how Notre Dame played against Pittsburgh. "I tried to watch the offensive line, their demeanor. Coach Latina is doing a really job down there."

Like most recruits, Olsen has missed some calls from coaches due to school commitments, including football practice. But he has spoken to a couple of head coaches since Sep. 1.

"Coach Weis, and…Coach O'Brien, they just talked to me about the normal stuff," Olsen said of his conversations with the two head coaches. "How training camp went, how school was going, stuff like that."

"Coach Weis said November would be a good time for me to come for an official visit," Olsen continued. "He said either the 12th or the 19th. Coach O'Brien told me the same thing."

Olsen has yet to decide on any official dates, but that is likely to happen in the not so distant future.

"It's going fine," Olsen commented about his recruitment. "I'm still pretty much open to anyone."

Several schools are still in contact with the big lineman. Miami, Maryland, Virginia and several schools are still under consideration.
