Rashon Powers-Neal Transcript

On Stopping the home losing streak to Michigan State:

"We want to go out there and win, but I'm not even thinking about that to tell you the truth. We've just got to go out there an approach it as another game. We've just got to go out there and win this next game."

On trying to make Notre Dame Stadium a tough place to play again:.

"We always want to do that. That's something everyone wants to do…make their home stadium a tough place to play."

On Michigan State and his thoughts on their defense:

"They're a bunch of athletes. They go out there and they play hard the entire game. They're very physical and they play very hard. They fly around a lot."

On how they can keep from being overconfident after having such an impressive start:

"I don't think this team is every going to get too overconfident. We've got too far to go. We haven't done anything yet, really."

On the team buying into a winning attitude:

"Exactly. You can look at everyone and tell. All we want to do is win the game."

On Weis' bringing the unselfish and winning attitude of the Patriots to the Irish:

"That's a great example….just seeing how a group of guys buy into the system. That's what it's all about…buying into the system."

On how they can use their "us against the world" attitude they used to motivate themselves for the two previous games on the road and incorporate that at home:

"You don't need much motivation for Michigan State or any game. It's first home game. We want to go out there and we've got to keep this thing going."

On Michigan State winning the last four games in Notre Dame Stadium:

"You can use that as motivation, but for me, I don't need motivation to play anybody. We've just got to go out there and do what we have to do."

On how Michigan State's defense is unique, and how much can the team take away from watching tape of the Spartans playing Kent State and Hawaii—two overmatched teams:

"From watching it you can see they play hard. They're very physical team and they just fly around. You can look at that kind of thing and see their personalities and stuff."

On how ineffective the offense was early in games last year and why they're so effective this year when starting on offense:

"We're just really focused. We know what we need to do and we know how we need to accomplish that, so we just go out there and play as hard as we can."

On if the experience they have on offense has a lot to do with their early success:

"Definitely. We've all been together for a long time. We know each other and we know what we're doing." Top Stories
