With programs such as Oklahoma, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Auburn having already offered Jim Barrie, OL, 6-5, 305 pounds, Tampa, Fla., (Berkley Prep) it is easy to understand why Barrie wants to take all five of his official visits before making his college decision.
"A whole bunch," Barrie said of the schools he is still interested in. "My top two right now are Michigan and Florida State.
"Those are the two I'm most comfortable with," Barrie continued.
Several schools are still giving chase.
"Notre Dame, Tennessee, South Carolina, Louisiana State, Oklahoma, Auburn…Georgia Tech," Barrie said of the schools he is also interested in.
As for official visits, Barrie only has one dead set right now.
"I'm going to the Michigan/Ohio State game. I'll visit Florida State after my season is over," he said."
Another school is also talking to Barrie about official visits.
"I spoke to coach Weis last night (Monday). He spoke to me about taking a visit for the Tennessee game," Barrie said.
Playing time generally plays a roll in the final decision for just about any recruit. Barrie has begun to take a look at some of the schools depth charts.
"South Carolina, Oklahoma and Florida State," Barrie said of the schools he thought he could play earliest at. "Oklahoma had two guys quit on them. They were already going to take five offensive linemen; so now they could take seven."
Distance could also play a roll in his final decision.
"Yeah, I would prefer to stay closer to home," Barrie admitted when asked if distance was something he would consider.
