Irish in the Hunt

Daniel Wenger has now taken two official visits. The Florida resident may also visit Notre Dame in the near future. Where do the Irish stand with Wenger?

Notre Dame's lack of depth along the interior offensive line has it scouring the country looking for offensive guard and center prospects. Daniel Wenger, C, 6-4, 285 pounds, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., (St. Thomas Aquinas) is one of a handful of recruits that fit the bill.

Daniel Wenger has already taken official visits to Pittsburgh (Sep. 3) and he went to Purdue (Oct. 1) this past weekend. What did he think of his trek to West Lafayette?

"Good, went real well," Wenger said. "The whole setting of the up North atmosphere was great.

Now the question becomes which schools will Wenger fill out his official visit ledger to?

"Possibly one to Notre Dame," Wenger said of his official visit plans. "Nov. 5. If that visit is set up it will happen this week."

Wenger was not sure about any other official visits, but several schools remain in the hunt for his services.

"Duke, Florida, Oklahoma, Penn State, Louisiana State," he said of the other schools he is considering.

"I'm definitely taking more official visits, but if I find the one I'll commit," Wenger commented about his decision time frame.

Wenger had not recently spoken to Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis at the time of the interview. He did speak to Pittsburgh head coach Dave Wannstedt last week.
