The playoffs will begin this week for Butch Lewis and his Regis Jesuit teammates. Regis Jesuit was 6-4 during the regular season. The 6-6, 285-pound Lewis has mainly played along the defensive line this season, but a shift in philosophy has taken place.
"I think I have around six or seven sacks," Lewis said. "I think I'm going back to offense this week. It's time to start scoring some touchdowns. I'm going to play tackle and some tight end.
Lewis has played offense this season, but probably wouldn't mind being a little more involved within the passing game. He said "I caught one pass last week."
Lewis does not mind the transition to playing offense more than defense, just as long as he and his teammates are able to defeat Fort Collins this weekend.
The only official visit Lewis has taken to date is to Notre Dame (Oct. 15). This weekend Lewis will take his second official visit to Athens to see Georgia take on Auburn. His three remaining visits will be Louisiana State (Nov. 26), Southern California (Dec. 3) and Miami (Dec. 9).
Lewis enjoyed the game during his official visit to Notre Dame, but that's not what stood out to him. "I think I picked a good first visit," Lewis said, referring to the close game between the Irish and Trojans. "The players and coaches were real welcoming. The atmosphere was great."
Lewis met with members of the Notre Dame business department during his official visit, as well as the head of admissions, Dan Saracino.
Lewis gave absolutely no indication of which school or schools he was leaning to, but does have a time frame in mind to make his decision. "Probably sometime soon after I visit Miami," he said.
Will Lewis make his decision before the New Year?
"I hope so," Lewis said with a laugh.
