Brown Enjoys Official Visit

Safety prospect Sergio Brown went on his official visit to Notre Dame this past weekend. The Maywood, Ill. native has finished his 2005 senior season and now says all focus turns to Notre Dame.

Defensive back Sergio Brown returned from his official visit to Notre Dame impressed with the Irish.

"I had a good time," Brown said. "I hung out mostly with Demetrius (Jones) and James (Aldridge), but we got to hang out with everyone and we all got along well."

Brown also said he really liked his host, David Grimes.

"David was a real cool guy," he said. "He's a real nice guy and we have a lot in common. I think he's going to be a guy I'll be hanging out with a lot next year. We also hung out with Ray Herring and Asaph Schwapp quite a bit. I thought I fit in well with everyone."

The Irish coaching staff also made another positive impression on Brown.

"I got to speak with both coach Lewis and coach Weis," he said. "I really like coach Lewis and coach Weis. Coach Lewis seems like a guy that I could really play for.

"We pretty much talked about the same stuff. They told me that they wouldn't have recruited me if they didn't feel I could come in and make an early impact. They told me I'd get my shot to play next year, and it's up to me and what I do with that shot. They played a lot of freshmen this year so they don't have any problem playing freshmen."

Brown also got to check out the social life at Notre Dame.

"Yeah, it seemed like I fit in well everywhere," he said when asked what he thought of the social life at Notre Dame. "I got to check out a few dorms. I hadn't really seen that, but they were pretty nice. They weren't too small or anything.

"It was pretty much what I expected Notre Dame to be. I liked it and got along well with everyone."

Earlier Brown had mentioned he might take more officials visits. That plan appears to be on the back burner at this point.

"I don't think I'm taking any more visits," he said when asked if Notre Dame would be his only official visit.

Brown does plan to play some other sports to finish out his high school career.

"I'm playing basketball," he said. "I play shooting guard and I'll run some track this spring."

"I finished my season with 3 interceptions, two I returned for touchdowns. I also had 50 tackles," Brown said when asked his final season stats.
