Mike Macellari, a 6-foot-6, 248-pound, defensive end from South Bend (Ind) Clay has been offered a scholarship by Purdue University and several other schools have been in contact.
"Purdue is my only offer." Macellari said. "Purdue is the only school that has called me during May so far. Besides Purdue, I'd say that Indiana is probably recruiting me the hardest. I received hand-written letters from every member of the Indiana coaching staff.
"If I had to pick some early favorites, I'd say that Northwestern, Purdue, Stanford, Notre Dame and Michigan would all be at the top of my list.
Macellari will be a three-year starter in 2002. He had 40 solo tackles, 20 assisted tackles, 11 sacks and 10 tackles for loss as a junior.
Mike says he'll camp at Michigan and Stanford this summer. He carries a 3.9 GPA and he scored a 1370 on his SAT.
