Dunford's Dish

Irish Eyes recruiting correspondent John Dunford attended the Army All-American combine and here are some of his thoughts on some of the top prospects he saw on Saturday.

Dunford's Combine Dish: Running back Robert Hughes

State/School: Chicago, Il Hubbard

Combine Scoop: Physically, Hughes possess all the tools to play major college football now. Equally impressive is his ability to shift his 210- plus pound frame through cones with ease and agility, while maintaining superb balance and body control. Presently Hughes favors Michigan, Miami, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. Other suitors will contend for Hughes's signature as Hughes plans on attending summer camps in the Midwest, South, and ACC country this summer.

Notre Dame's Contact: Hughes attended Notre Dame's Adidas camp last year and continues to receive letters from Notre Dame, some of which are hand-written by coach Ianello.

Dunford's Take: Look for Hughes to look around but ultimately stay in the Midwest. His physical tools were eye-popping, so much so that it appears that he is a running back in a linebacker's body. Expect Hughes to visit Notre Dame or the summer and take in a junior day. Irisheyes will now more about where Hughes stands after that.

Dunford's Combine Dish: Cornerback Donovan Warren

State/School: Long Beach, CA, Poly

Combine Scoop: Warren sits atop the corner food chain of California. Superb speed and lighting fast feet, along with great balance and cat-like quickness, compliments his six-foot height. Despite a slim frame, Warren meets ball-carriers with aggression and force, and prevented all passes thrown his way from being competed. According to Warren, "There was no one here I couldn't't cover."

Notre Dame's Contact: Besides for receiving letters, coach Polian stopped by his school within the last month. Warren hasn't visited Notre Dame yet because of the distance.

Dunford's Take: Warren is a gifted athlete with a ton of upside. As noted before, his slim frame brings questions of toughness. Yet, Warren uses his acceleration to counteract this misconception and eliminate all questions. Presenting Notre Dame is in Warren's top five, along with California, Oregon, USC, and Miami, and their future success in recruiting the talented cornerback will depend on getting Warren to unofficially visit over the summer months.

Dunford's Combine Dish: Wide receiver Greg Little

State/School: Durham, NC, Hillside

Combine Scoop: Little's combination of height, weight, and leaping ability caught the eyes of many over the weekend. Little is more than adamant about his interest in Notre Dame and desires to attend a college where he can receive early playing time and become part of the school and town community.

Notre Dame's Contact: Little receives letters from Notre Dame and plans on visiting over the spring, perhaps for the spring game.

Dunford's Take: Little is similar to Dorian Dickerson of last year in that he can run, catch, has great agility, and can jump out the ceiling. A Notre Dame offer may lead to an instant commitment, despite Little's goal of announcing his college choice on national TV at next year's All-American game. Notre Dame in his top five, along with Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Texas, and Miami.
