Baltimore Safety Has Interest in Notre Dame

Notre Dame can never find enough defensive backs and Baltimore, MD is not usually a place to find them. Gilman high school is home to Ambrose Wooden. One of the top safeties in the country.

Ambrose Wooden is 6-1 180 pounds and plays a host of positions for Gilman high school. He plays quarterback, safety, wide receiver and tailback for his team. "Most schools are recruiting me as an athlete but I know I will likely play safety in college and that is perfectly fine with me."

Ambrose has 15 offers so far but couldn't remember them all. "Notre Dame, Stanford, Duke, Maryland, Virginia Tech, USC, Iowa, Boston College, Syracuse, UCLA, that is about all I can think of right now." I asked Ambrose which schools he liked the best. "Right now, I am wide open. I think I will narrow it down sometime this summer. I like all the schools that have offered me and I am open to anyone that wants to recruit me."

Ambrose said he doesn't plan to attend any camps but does plan to make a few summer trips. "I am going to Virginia on Sunday. I will probably head to the west coast this summer and check out a school or two."

Ambrose is solid in the classroom as well with a 3.9 g.p.a. and just took the test last Saturday. I asked Ambrose about his top schools. "Right now, it would be Stanford, Virginia and Notre Dame. Actually, I like all the schools that offered me.

Wooden plans to take all his visits but said if they right school came along, he would commit. He also said distance isn't a big deal to him and he wants to find a school with excellent balance between academics and athletics.

. I think Notre Dame will be in this until the end. This player appears to be the perfect mold for the type of player that coach Willingham is looking for. He is very bright and Notre Dame will be going after him hard. Top Stories
