Demtrious Webb Looks to Stay Close to Home

Edward H. White high school in Jacksonville Florida is home to Demetrious Webb and many college coaches this past May. Webb walked away with an impressive list of offers. Did Notre Dame offer?

Demetrious Webb is 6-0 and 180 pounds. He is an athlete many are recruiting as a defensive back. He plays tailback on offense and rushed for 820 yards last year. His 10 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns, are why he is being heavily recruited by all the top schools in the south.

"I have offers from Florida State, Miami, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, LSU, Maryland, North Carolina State and Clemson. I have a few more but that is all I can remember right now."

I asked Demetrious if he is likely to stay closer to home and what he is looking for in a school. "I will probably look around for other schools but it would be nice to stay close to home. All the Florida schools have offered me so I might just stay closer to hom but I will look at other schools out of state. The two most important things to me are the academics and playing for a good program. I want to go to a place where they know what they are doing there."

Demetrious has a 2.5 g.p.a. and just took his test this past Saturday. He said he plans to take all 5 visits and then decide in January. Playing time is also a big factor. "I just want to get on the field as soon as I can so I have been looking at depth charts." I asked who looked good from that standpoint then. "Florida State and Florida look pretty attractive right now."

Comments. He is a great kid. I just don't see him leaving Florida. Notre Dame will recruit him hard but I just don't see him leaving the state. I have heard he is another very talented player. Top Stories
