OL Joe Holler Returns From Unofficial Visits

Notre Dame has a very big need for offensive linemen this year. I expect Notre Dame to take at least 5 and probably 6 this year. It seems strange that you cannot find an offensive lineman with an offer from Notre Dame but I do like what is happening. This story might give you some insight on what Notre Dame plans to do with offensive linemen this year.

Joe Holler is a big man. At 6-6 313 pounds, this Lancaster, PA lineman has been getting a lot of attention across the country. He just got back from a drive to some of his favorite schools in the Midwest.

"I am so tired. We got back at 3 PM and I just went to bed. I had such a great time meeting all the coaches and seeing all the schools." Joe just back from unofficial visits to Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Michigan and Pittsburgh.

"I have 14 offers I think. Virginia Tech and West Virginia offered me today. Penn State, Pitt, Maryland, Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois and Syracuse are some of them. Notre Dame didn't offer me on my trip but I sat down and had a long talk with coach Willingham. He said they haven't offered any offensive linemen at this point. He said he wanted to watch some senior film of all of the guys he is recruiting. He did say he liked me very much but they weren't going to offer any offensive linemen just yet."

Joe also didn't receive an offer from Michigan. "Michigan told me they don't offer a lot of players early other than the in-state kids." Joe didn't seemed bothered by not receiving offers from Notre Dame or Michigan. "I am going to take all 5 visits so I am in no hurry."

I asked Joe what he thought of all the schools he visited. "I really liked them all. They all something special about them. Michigan State was the first school to offer me so that makes me feel good. I liked them all really. It's going to be hard to choose."

I asked Joe if any coach in particular stood out on his visits. "You know who really impressed me, coach Willingham really impressed me. He is so cool. He talks to you in a different way. I had never met him before and I was really impressed with him."

Joe said he plans to take all 5 of his visits and decide shortly after that. He said right now, he is pretty open and didn't have a real leader. Distance isn't going to be a factor and Joe said he wanted to feel comfortable with the coaches and the players. "The coaches are very important. The offensive line coach is very important and so is the weight-training coach. You will spend a lot of time with that guy.

Comments. I think Notre Dame has a very good shot at this player. He seems pretty open but he was really impressed with Willingham and Notre Dame. ND will likely be recruiting this player very hard so keep an eye on him.
