David Marrero is going to be recruited heavily by schools across the country. David is 5-11 185 and ran a 4.34 at the Nike camp this year. He had 1200 all-purpose yards last year and scored 14 touchdowns rushing, receiving and on kick and punt returns.
"I have offers from Notre Dame, Northwestern, Florida, FSU, Nebraska, Boston College, Stanford, Purdue, Auburn, Indiana, Maryland, West Virginia and Rutgers." David said he had more but he couldn't remember them all.
Marrero is a heck of a student as well with a 3.6 core and scored a 1080 on the SAT. "Academics are very important to me. That is why Notre Dame and Stanford are my top two schools. They offer the best balance of academics and athletics. I have been thinking about both schools for a very long and I knew I would be interested in these schools.
I asked David what he thought about both schools. "I have met coach Teevens. I know Stanford quite well. I have never been to Notre Dame and I have not met coach Willingham. I am going to Notre Dame next week. I plan to go to Notre Dame and also stop by Northwestern, Purdue and maybe Michigan as well."
I asked David if Stanford was leading at this point. "I would say they are a little but that is because I know more about them. I don't know as much about Notre Dame. I could go to Notre Dame and fall in love with it. Stanford said I needed to score an 1120 to get in there so I need to take the test again. I am still interested in other schools as well."
David said that distance was going to be a factor for him and that academics was the most important thing to him. "I am most interested in a degree that means something. I could get hurt my first year so a degree that means something is going to be important. I am just looking for the best of both worlds."
David said he grew up in the midwest. He is originally from Detroit so he is very familiar with the area. The best thing about David is he is a die-hard Detriot Lions fan and that shows what character he has. Us Lions fans need to stick together.
Comments. Notre Dame has a great shot at this player. I have heard he is a fantastic athlete and he is a better kid. I do think it will come down to Notre Dame and Stanford like so many of these battles seem to be. I like ND's chances.
