Bynes Looking for the Right Fit

Scout.com Top-100 linebacker prospect Josh Bynes from Boyd H. Anderson high school (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) makes plays all over the field. He has great size and range. Bynes has two solid offers going into spring and he's expecting more to come his way.

Notre Dame is looking for playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. Linebacker is a position the Irish need to upgrade and Josh Bynes (6-3, 220-pounds) will be one of the best in the state of Florida.

"I really like Notre Dame but I haven't heard much from them," Bynes replied when asked if Notre Dame was recruiting him. "They send me letters, but I haven't talked to the coaches.

"They amazed me this past season. Against USC, they hung with USC all day. I believe their defense is coming up. They recruited three good players from down here. They're really coming up. I can't wait to see them. Their academics are really good, they offer the best…it's time to jump on it."

While the Irish have yet to make a serious push for Bynes, he does have two schools that have emerged as his leaders.

"Auburn and Pittsburgh are the two top schools," Bynes said. "Both of them have offered. "A couple guys from down here went to Auburn. I love their defense. Pittsburgh texts me and I need to call the coaches there.

"Louisville said they offered me and it was supposed to come today but I'm not sure it came in the mail."

Bynes grew up in Florida a fan of the Miami Hurricanes, but it's the team in Gainesville that appears to be recruiting him the hardest at this time.

"I went to a junior day at Miami," Bynes said. "They're recruiting me, but not as much as other schools.

"Florida texts me every morning. I know they're and it's a really nice school. Their facilities are really good. The football field is crazy. I like their defense, that's what I really admire about that program.

"Sometimes you have to go with something else," Bynes explained about playing for a team other than his childhood favorite. "If one schools fits you better than another, you have to go where you fit best."

In order to find the best fit, Bynes is going to attend several college football camps this summer.

"I'm going to go to a lot of school camps," Bynes said. "Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, LSU – I'm going to go to a lot of schools camps.

"I haven't really been out of state, except maybe three times. I haven't been able to see a lot of colleges. So I want to go and see how it feels at different schools. I like Miami, Florida, Florida State, but I see them all the time so I want to see what else is out there besides the schools in Florida."

Last season Bynes recorded 147 tackles, eight forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and two sacks.
