Dwight Stevenson Is Wide Open

With the great need at linebacker, Notre Dame is going to be recruiting a lot of prospects from all over the country. One prospect I know they will be recruiting hard is Boca Raton, Fla linebacker Dwight Stevenson. Stevenson has some offers and is wide open at this point.

Dwight Stevenson is 6-2 220 and ran a 4.37 at the Nike camp. He has offers from Boston College, North Carolina, Rutgers, Iowa State, Pittsburg and South Florida.

I asked Dwight about his recruiting and what has been going on. "There are a lot of schools who are interested. Pretty much every school contacted me. Miami and Florida seem very interested. Florida wants to use me as both a defensive end and linebacker. They hide their coverages a lot so I could sneak in and play a little defensive end which I really like to play."

I asked him if he thought he would stay in Florida or in SEC country. "My parents want me to go to Alabama. My Dad was the best offensive center to ever play at Alabama and my Mom is a graduate as well from Alabama. I like Alabama but I am wide open and I don't care how far away a school is." Dwight said he would look at any school that offered him.

I asked Stevenson what the most important factors were in his decision. "Education is the #1 factor. I could get hurt my first year. I also want the opportunity to play. I don't need to start my first year but I do want an opportunity to play and I hope that I can play early." Dwight listed the top schools he is most interested in right now as Miami, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina and Florida State. He was quick to point out that this will likely change.

Comments. Dwight has a 2.6 core and scored a 980 on his SAT. This is a kid that I think will be very impressed with coach Willingham. He is very serious about his future and the big 3 in Florida haven't offered yet but I am sure they will. ND could have a shot if they recruit this player hard. He does seem pretty open to anyone.
