As Irish Eyes reported last night, top tight end prospect Mike Ragone is set to announce his college decision on Monday. Ragone recently returned from his second visit to South Bend for the Irish spring game—he also visited for Notre Dame's first junior day in January.
Many have thought Ragone was leaning towards choosing Notre Dame, and one has to assume the Irish are certainly the team to beat because of the timing of his announcement. Ragone has many, many offers from teams like USC, Miami, Penn State, Ohio State and Florida State. Many consider Ragone the top tight end in the nation. We predict he'll choose Notre Dame on Monday.
Ragone might not be the only New Jersey product to choose the Irish in the near future.
Ragone and his family have become fast friends with four-star defensive end Justin Trattou and his family. Trattou also visited for the spring game as well as Notre Dame's first junior day, and we considered the Irish the strong leader heading into his latest visit. Will Trattou decide soon? We wouldn't be surprised if it happened real soon. If he does, we have to think his choice will be Notre Dame as well.
Another New Jersey product also visited for the Irish spring game last weekend, wide receiver Duval Kamara. Kamara is widely considered one of the top wide-out prospects in the country and has the offers to prove it. USC, Penn State, Miami and Virginia are just a few of the many offers Kamara has landed besides Notre Dame. Irish Eyes also felt that Notre Dame might be leading for his services before the spring game and Kamara seemed to really enjoy his visit. Will Kamara decide soon? We're not certain, but we wouldn't be surprised. If he does, we also have to believe he'll choose Notre Dame.
Ventura, Calif. native Michael Williams also could make an early decision. The 5-11, 175-pound corner prospect also attended the Notre Dame spring game and has visited Notre Dame numerous times in the past for football camps.
We've long thought the Irish led for Williams as well, and Williams has indicated in the past he might make an early decision. He did mention he wanted to take a look at Michigan, which he now has, and he might be thinking of making a decision. Once again, we'd be surprised if he chose anyone but the Irish.
Many Irish fans had hoped five-star wide receiver prospect Arrelious Benn would make his decision at Notre Dame's spring game. That didn't happen but we still feel the Irish are the strong leader for his commitment. When will he decide? It could happen in the next few weeks or he might decide to wait a bit. Regardless, we feel the Irish have a large lead for Benn.
There are a number of other prospects that we believe Notre Dame has a very good shot at who might end up committing in the near future, but those mentioned above are the most likely in our minds. Don't be surprised if Irish fans get more good news in the near future.
