There will be a host of college coaches descending on Columbus, Ohio for the Nike combine held at the Ohio State facilities, but one player they won't see is Devon Torrence (6-1, 190-pounds).
"I have a doubleheader." Torrence replied when asked if he would attend the Columbus combine. "I'm going down to the [Ohio State] camp this summer. I think they're going to offer.
"I'm going down to [Notre Dame's] camp too, so I'm going to just see what happens before I make any commitments."
Penn State, Purdue, Kentucky, Indiana and Minnesota have offered Torrence. Devon expects the scholarship numbers to increase, but the Penn State offer was a pleasant surprise.
"Surprising," Torrence said of his scholarship offer from Penn State. "I wasn't expecting it. It came out of nowhere. They'd send me letters, but they weren't getting in touch with me and all of a sudden they offered."
Torrence would like an Irish offer to appear, but that might need to wait until he attends the Irish summer camp.
"It's been going good, but I haven't really talked to [Notre Dame] lately. They're still sending mail every day. They were at school today. My coach told me coach Ianello was in today."
As a junior, Torrence rushed for over 800 yards and had over 400 yards receiving.
