Donald on Irish Radar

Notre Dame recruiting fans are always looking for new names to appear during the May evaluation period. A prospect Irish fans should start to get familiar with is linebacker Chris Donald of Huntingdon high school (Tenn.) The Irish haven't offered Donald a scholarship yet, but that could happen soon.

Chris Donald (6-3, 220–pounds) is a pre-season Scout.com Top-100 prospect, he has seven early offers, and it's likely that more will be on their way.

"Yes sir, I'm, excited about the offers," responded Donald when ask about his options to play college football. "I have offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Miss St, Ole Miss, Clemson, Memphis, Vanderbilt.

"My top-five is Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson."

Notre Dame is the only school in Donald's top-five that hasn't offered him a scholarship. That is something Chris would like to see change.

"They're in my top five," Donald said of the Irish. "They said to give them two to four weeks to evaluate everything with me and then they'd make a decision.

"Coach Minter stopped in school. He told my coach he'd like to get me up to campus before I make my decision.

"I know they have a real good coach there, a great football program and great academics too. My mom likes the academic part of that," Donald said of Notre Dame. "I haven't really gotten a chance to see them. I'm going to make a trip up there this summer."

Donald has been to Knoxville a couple of times and he's also been to Ole Miss. He'd like to take visits to all the schools he's considering before he the start of his season so he is able to make an informed decision.

"I'm going to visit all the schools and see where I feel at home," explained Donald. "I want to get a feel for the campuses. It's going to be before the season starts. I want to do that so I don't have to think about my decision while I'm playing."

As a junior Donald recorded 120 tackles, 14 sacks, 32 tackles for a loss, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception. Offensively, he rushed for 1,637 yards, had 287 receiving yards and scored 27 touchdowns.
