CB Johnny Edwards likes Notre Dame

Another corner prospect is interested in Notre Dame. Stars Mill HS, Fayettville, GA prospect Johnny Edwards is a 5-10 180 corner that is starting to get some attention from a lot of the top schools in the country.

Johnny Edwards had 60 tackles and 6 interceptions last year to go along with 12 pass deflections. Add his 4.45 speed and a lot of people will be interested.

"I have offers from Duke, Stanford, Vandy, E. Carolina and Wake Forrest right now. A lot of schools have been in contact. Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Florida and North Carolina seem to have the most interest."

Johnny is a very good student with a 3.3 core g.p.a. and scored an 1120 on his SAT. "Academics is the most important thing so I will take a look at the academic side of things. I want to go to a team on the rise and I would like to play early. I want everyone to know that I am player. I am smart but I can also play. " I doubt anyone is questioning that.

I asked Edwards about all the schools recruiting him. Here is what he had to say about Notre Dame. "Yeah, I like Notre Dame. I like them quite a bit but I am open to everyone. I want to talk to everyone interested in me before I narrow it down."

Johnny said he is going to play both ways this year and play some wide receiver. He must be a pretty good player because this school usually has excellent talent. If they want him on both sides of the ball, it's because he is quite an athlete.

Johnny said he isn't sure what he plans to do yet. "I will probably take some of my visits but not all of them. I plan on going to see a few schools. I am going to visit Notre Dame on July 10th. I want to go see Maryland and Pitt as well. I would like to commit before the season starts but I might not be able to. It just depends on if I feel comfortable at any certain school."

Comments. Notre Dame has a very good shot at Edwards. I know they like him quite a bit. He is a great kid and will fit in well at Notre Dame. Will ND offer? I am not sure but I think if they do, they will be right at the top.
