Chase Anastasio is 6-2 190 pounds and consistently runs in the 4.47 range. Last year, he had 87 tackles and 4 interceptions from his corner position. He also had 4 blocked punts and scored 17 touchdowns on offense running and receiving.
"I have offers from Maryland, Virginia, VA Tech, Penn State, UConn, Wake Forrest, Ohio State, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Stanford. I didn't attend any camps but I have been to Virginia, VA Tech and Penn State on unofficial visits."
Chase does plan on going on a couple of other unofficial visits. "My friend and I plan to go see Pittsburgh sometime next week. After that, my parents and I plan to go visit Notre Dame and Stanford to see what they are all about. I just want to take these to get a feel of these schools and see if I like them and feel comfortable there."
I asked Chase if distance would be a problem. "Well Virginia and Virginia Tech are great schools. I know them well and I feel comfortable there. I am not ruling anyone out. Location is not an issue. I am going on my unofficial visits to find out more about the schools and see if I like them and if I feel comfortable there. It would be easier to go to an in state school but I am not ruling anyone out."
Chase is an excellent student with a 3.6 core g.p.a. He has taken the test but hasn't received his scores. I asked Chase what is going to be important in his decision. "Academics is the most important this. I need to get a good education. Playing time will also be a factor. I want to play early and I will look to see where I fit in with the depth chart. Also, I think my parents will have to like it. There are so many things to consider and they will all be considered when I make a decision."
Comments. Chase seems pretty open. I like the fact that he plans to visit Notre Dame unofficially. That means he has genuine interest. He is a very smart kid and I think Willingham will have a big impact on him when he meets him. 6-2 corners are hard to come by.
