Dunbar high school should have start charging tolls with all the college recruiters that stopped in to see Arrelious Benn (6-2, 190-pounds) during May.
"Just about everybody," responded Benn when asked which coaches stopped by his school during the May evaluation period. "Only a select few head coaches came through though like coach Carroll and coach Friedgen…. coach Weis came through. He (Weis) couldn't talk to me directly so he talked to my coach. He just wanted to know what was going on with me. I just let him know that I'm interested in Notre Dame and they're in my top three."
Benn has over 50 scholarship offers which means making into his final three schools is an accomplishment.
"Notre Dame, USC and Florida State," answered Benn when asked his main schools. "My top five would be Notre Dame, Florida State, USC, Miami and Maryland."
Florida State is a school that has come on strong over the last several weeks, but Benn has always had them on his mind.
"They have a tradition of big physical receivers," Benn remarked about Florida State "I've always liked Florida State. I grew up on Florida State. Florida State is a great team."
Benn has visited Notre Dame, but he hasn't made a trip to see the other schools in his top three.
"I haven't been out to USC, but I'm going to go out there this summer," said Benn. "I plan to take a trip down to Tallahassee and Miami. Coach Weis is trying to get me back out there, but I don't know when."
After making his unofficial visits, Arrelious feels that he will be ready to make his decision.
"I'm on track to make my decision at the beginning of my season," Benn said of his pending decision. "I want to announce my decision on my birthday. My birthday is September 8. I want to get it over with before my senior season."
As a junior Benn had 49 catches for over 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns.
