AZ Defensive End Plans to Visit Notre Dame

Notre Dame will be looking for some quick defensive ends this year. One player Notre Dame is recruiting is Saguaro HS prospect Kyle Caldwell from Scottsdale, AZ. I spoke with Caldwell and he appears interested in the Irish and wants to take and unoffical visit to Notre Dame sometime soon.

Kyle Caldwell is 6-3 255 pounds. Last year, he had 118 tackles, 13 sacks and 26 quarterback hurries. Most schools are recruiting him as a defensive end including Notre Dame.

"I have 18 offers so far. Everyone in the Pac 10 except Stanford. Northwestern, Mizzouri, Texas, Texas A&M, Colorado and Colorado State have also offered me. I camped at UCLA and ASU for their one days camps. Those were the only camps I attended. I do plan to take an unofficial visit to Notre Dame soon. I am not sure when we are going but I hope to make it there soon."

I asked Kyle what was going to be important to him when he makes his decision. "I want to go to a place that has a great atmosphere in both football and the campus. I like a team with a family atmosphere and a winning tradition. Distance will not be a factor. The weather might be a small factor." Kyle's Dad was an All-American at ASU playing defensive end. I asked if that might push him to ASU. "Both my parents are ASU grads. I do think they would like me to attend ASU but they are leaving it up to me. They want me to go to the school I feel most comfortable at."

Right now, the top schools for Caldwell were listed as these. UCLA, ND, ASU, Oregon and Nebraska. I talked to Kyle about each school. Here is what he had to say about Notre Dame. "They have great academics. It's very well known for football as well. They have great tradition. I don't know a lot about the school so that is why I want to take an unofficial visit there. I do have a lot of interest in Notre Dame."

Kyle does plan to take all his visits so a decision will likely come in late January. He has a 3.0 core g.p.a. but has yet to take his test yet.

Comments. Kyle is a great kid and fits the ND mold. I would say that UCLA and ASU are the teams to beat at this time. I do think he has genuine interest in Notre Dame. He said he wants to visit Notre Dame sometime this month. I think we will have a better idea of his interest after this visit. I do think he will like Notre Dame once he visits. We will have to wait and see what his thoughts are after he visits. Top Stories
