Cheadle Hears from Notre Dame

Every year at this time names that haven't been discussed in recruiting circles start to emerge as legitimate prospects. Justin Cheadle of Bakersfield high school (Calif.) will be a name Irish fans will want to become familiar with as recruiting year develops.

Justin Cheadle (6-4, 260-pounds) isn't certain where Notre Dame is recruiting him, but he is willing to listen if they decide he can help their program. In fact it wasn't until recently that the Irish had even be in touch with him.

"I went to the Nike camp and they saw me and then they called me the next day," Cheadle responded when asked about his recruitment by Notre Dame. "I really didn't get a chance to talk to him because they really aren't allowed to be talking to me, so he was talking to my coach most of the time.

"I'd definitely look into Notre Dame. They have a great football program. It is pretty far, and right now I'm focused on staying on the West Coast, but that's why I want to take my official visits, so I can take in everything.

"I really don't know," Cheadle replied when asked which position the Irish were recruiting him to play. "Offensive or defensive line, but I played defensive line at the Nike camp."

Washington State, Arizona, Nebraska, Colorado State, San Diego State, Stanford, Cal, UNLV and Nevada have already offered Justin, but despite those options he isn't in a hurry to make a decision.

"I just want to see which teams are interested in me," he explained of his recruiting strategy at this time. "I want to see who stays interested in me, and feel out the coaches that that have offered, then go to a couple camps. I'm going to the USC football camp. They keep saying that they'll give me an offer if I go to camp.

"I have to get all my official visits in. This is a real important decision and I have to look at everything. I need to go where it's best for me. I need to look at a school to make sure it's the best choice for me before I make my decision." Top Stories
