Despite Notre Dame's immediate need along the defensive front, Chris Perry (6-3, 315-pounds) is headed to Miami.
"I'm committed to Miami," Perry responded when asked about his recruitment. "I committed a long time ago, but I'm just going to make it official now. I'm going to go down there and visit this month with my grandfather.
"I was ready to commit to them, because Miami puts a lot of people in the draft and I really like their school. Then Notre Dame [offered]. Notre Dame has a real good program and I got to keep it real with myself. There's a chance that I wouldn't go pro and Notre Dame can help me get a job. But then I just committed to Miami.
With Perry opting for the Miami Hurricanes, the Irish will need to focus their attention on other defensive tackle prospects. Players left on the board with a scholarship offer include Joseph Barksdale, Marvin Austin, Michael Reardon, Will Blackwell and D'Angelo McCray.
