Brooks is ready to hit the road

Notre Dame has done very well thus far attracting the top wide receiver prospects in the country. For years it was difficult to find elite receivers that wanted to head to South Bend. Scout.com's No.6 wide receiver, Ron Brooks, of MacArthur high school (Irving, Texas), is another elite prospect that would like to get a good look at what the Irish program has to offer.

Ron Brooks (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) is a fantastic athlete and Notre Dame would love get him to campus. Notre Dame hasn't been in touch recently, but Brooks is hoping that he'll be able to make a trip to Notre Dame soon.

"I haven't talked to them lately. I haven't gotten a text from them in a couple weeks either," Brooks explained about his contact with the Notre Dame coaches. "I'm trying to get up there to see what is going on. I'm trying to get up there during the summertime.

"My coach wants me to go and see a lot of places, so me and a couple other people want to take some visits this summer and see a lot of different schools. They don't have offers from Notre Dame but they still want to see it."

Since recruits are only allowed to take five official visits, Brooks is also using the unofficial visits to weed through all the schools recruiting him and find the five schools he'd like to visit officially.

"I'm trying to take my unofficial visits first," Brooks said of his recruiting strategy. "I just want to see the campuses because I might not be able to go there on official visits so I'm trying to see them right now.

"If I picked my official visits now, they would be Notre Dame, LSU, Oklahoma, Florida and Nebraska."

Brooks reports scholarship offers from more than twenty colleges including LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Florida, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa, Iowa State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Purdue.

As a junior Brooks had 43 catches for 778 yards and 13 touchdowns.
