Donald looking to reschedule with Irish

Linebacker Chris Donald of Huntingdon high school (Tenn.) is one of the top prospects the Irish are trying to add to their 2007 recruiting class. Chris recently named Notre Dame as one of his finalists along with his home-state Tennessee Volunteers.

Before Chris Donald (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) can make a decision on his college destination he'd like to make a visit to see the Notre Dame campus. He was scheduled to make the trip to South Bend just the July 4 holiday, but those plans fell through.

"I had some family come down," explained Donald as to why he didn't make his planned trip. "We're going to try to do it before school starts, but we won't be able to do it this week."

"I guess it will be before July 25. That's when I start two-a-days and scrimmages. I think our jamboree is the second week of August, around the time school starts."

There are only a couple weeks until Chris begins practice and the Irish coaches are currently on vacation, so the timing of the visit will be difficult to schedule.

"They said anytime would be good as long as they got me up there," Donald said of his conversation with the Notre Dame coaching staff. "We're going to try to do it when I can see coach Minter and coach Weis. They said just call them and arrange something. I think sometime after their vacation."

"They're telling me they want me to come before I make a decision. They want me to come down and visit them and see what they have to offer."

"It's very important because it's between them and Tennessee, so I'm going to have to go up there and see what they got," he added.

As a junior Donald recorded 120 tackles, 14 sacks, 32 tackles for a loss, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception. Offensively, he rushed for 1,637 yards, had 287 receiving yards and scored 27 touchdowns.
