Irish in mix for Little's No. 9 rated offensive lineman, Chris Little, of Twiggs County high school (Jeffersonville, Ga.) has all the top programs from the Southeast pursuing him. Little hasn't found his top-five at this time, but Notre Dame might end up in his final group.

Chris Little (6-foot-6, 327 pounds) was one of the first offensive lineman that the Irish offered for the 2007 recruiting class, which would indicate Irish offensive line coach John Latina believes he is very talented. Coach Latina isn't the only one as Little has all the top schools recruiting him.

"I'm down to ten, but I'm trying to narrow it down a little bit more," replied Little when asked about his recruitment. "I want to get it narrowed down to five by the end of this month or the middle of next month.

"My top ten, in no particular order is Florida State, Notre Dame, Georgia, Florida, Southern Cal, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Tennessee, LSU and Miami. All the schools have offered me and I've talked to all the coaches."

Although Little hasn't been able to pare down his list and name the five schools that will get his official visits, he does know of one school that he will visit.

"It's going to be hard to get up to Notre Dame for the summer, so they'll definitely get one of my official visits," Little said. "I just want to go up there for a game and spend the weekend there and find out everything I can about the school.

"I've talked to coach Copeland about the Penn State game because our bye week is in September. I do think that's the weekend of our bye week so I'll likely go up then."

Notre Dame will be happy to host Little for a weekend, and if he makes it to the Penn State game on September 9, he will likely be able to watch the Irish on two consecutive weekends. Chris is also making plans to watch the Irish take on Georgia Tech in Atlanta September 2.

Until that time Chris is trying to prepare for his upcoming season.

"I've just been working out with my team," Little said of his summer activities. "I haven't had any chance to visit any schools, but I am going up to Georgia Tech [Friday] because my team is competing in the seven-on seven tournament. It's kind of going to be an unofficial visit while I'm there.

"I've been playing football since the sixth or seventh grade, and right now I'm in the best shape than I have been in the past. I'm a lot stronger than I have been and I really notice a big difference. I've worked out hard in the past, but I've never worked out as hard as I have lately."

"We start camp the last week of July and then we really get going from there," Little said. "We have our first preseason game the third Friday in August. I'm excited. We have a lot of good games this year." Top Stories
