Donald Will Visit Notre Dame

Linebacker Chris Donald of Huntingdon high school (Tenn.) was scheduled to visit Notre Dame at the end of June, but he and his parent had to cancel the visit with hopes that they would be able to make the trip to South Bend at another date. The Donald family has done just that.

Notre Dame has some ground to make up with Chris Donald (6-foot-3, 220 pounds). He has favored the home-state Tennessee Volunteers for some time, but Chris has left the door open for Notre Dame. The Irish will get a chance to make their case next week when he travels to South Bend to see the Notre Dame campus for the first time.

"I talked to them last week, I spoke with coach Minter," Chris replied when asked if he had rescheduled his visit with the Notre Dame coaches. "I'm going to be down there July 27 with my dad and my mom. I think it's next Thursday and I think we'll stay until Saturday."

"I'm probably going to look around with my parents. I'm going to try to meet some of the players and all that good stuff."

The Notre Dame staff won't need to wait long to receive feedback from Donald concerning his visit, as he'll likely make his college decision soon afterward.

I'll probably think about it all week and then [announce] toward the weekend," Donald said of his pending announcement.

As a junior Donald recorded 120 tackles, 14 sacks, 32 tackles for a loss, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception. Offensively, he rushed for 1,637 yards, had 287 receiving yards and scored 27 touchdowns.
