Donald planning visits's No 15-rated linebacker, Chris Donald, of Huntingdon high school (Tenn.) expected to have his college decision made by the time he started his senior year, but that isn't how everything has played out.

Chris Donald (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) had narrowed his college choices to Notre Dame and Tennessee as early as June. Even at that time he thought he decision would be easy, but after an unofficial visit to Notre Dame has decided to take two of his official visits.

"I'm going to take my official visits to Tennessee and Notre Dame," Donald replied when asked the status of his recruitment. "I really haven't had a chance t talk to anybody, school just started. I've got to get back in the groove with school and football and everything else that comes along with it.

"I really haven't had a chance to [talk to the Notre Dame coaches], but I'll probably try to come to one of their early games. I'm going to meet with my parents and decide. I'll probably go after one of my games on Friday.

Chris would like to take both of his visits early. Tennessee has two games he is considering attending.

"I'll probably go to homecoming (September 23) or Florida (September 16). It will probably be one of them," Donald said of his plans to visit Tennessee.

Donald would like to finalize the dates for his official visits soon so that he can focus on his upcoming season.

"I haven't really talked to anybody, because after football I come home and study," Donald explained. "By the time I get done studying I go to bed. I guess a lot of recruiters and Web sites have been calling but I really haven't had a chance to call them back. Sometimes I just want to lay low.

"I'm trying to take a step back from the recruiting but it's going to follow me regardless. I'm with my team for another year so I've been trying to focus on that."

"Our jamboree is this Friday," Donald said. "We play two ten-minute quarters against one team. I think that there are eight teams and we play Ripley. Then on Monday we start getting ready for our first game against Camden Central."

As a junior, Donald recorded 120 tackles, 14 sacks, 32 tackles for a loss, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception. Offensively, he rushed for 1,637 yards, had 287 receiving yards and scored 27 touchdowns. Top Stories
