Fourth trip for Romine

You can never have a recruit on campus too many times and the Irish staff will welcome Matt Romine as often as he'd like to visit. The four-star offensive lineman from Union high school (Tulsa, Okla.) has already made three unofficial visits to South Bend and he is about to take a fourth.

Notre Dame is hosting a number of top recruits this Saturday for the Penn State game, but there is always room for one more. Matt Romine (6-foot-5, 275 pounds) is one of Notre Dame's top targets and he'll make his fourth visit to campus.

"I'm getting ready for the Jenks game and then I'm heading off Saturday morning," Romine replied when asked about his unofficial visit to Notre Dame. "I've been thinking about [visiting] for a while, and one of my friends is a huge Notre Dame fan. I don't think he's been to a Notre Dame game, so we're coming up Saturday morning.

"It's going to be my fourth trip, but it isn't going to be much of a trip because we'll just be going up to see the game and then coming back Saturday night.

"Usually we have two or three games on Thursday," Romine explained. "The Jenks game is usually played [Thursday] night, but for some reason they moved it to tomorrow. I was considering taking my official to ND next week, but we play on Friday."

Romine has settled on taking his official visit to Notre Dame for the UCLA game (October 21). He has also decided on two other official visits.

"I'll make an unofficial to Oklahoma and then I'll take an official, so I'm taking those visits," Romine said. "I'm taking my official to Tennessee next weekend for the Florida game. We play Friday, but it's kind of easy to get to Knoxville and it's a night game. I'm real excited about that too.

"I'm looking for two more to visit. I don't know when I'm going to make that decision or what the factors are going to be. I guess I'm going to wait and see how things fall into place.

"I'm going to have to decide between Oklahoma State, Michigan, Alabama, Florida and Miami," he said. "Miami offered about two weeks ago. They're a little bit behind, but that's a school that I've always liked. It's going to be tough."

Union (0-1) meets Jenks (1-0) at 7:30 CST. The game will be televised in Oklahoma. Top Stories
