Nwanwko staying focused

Emeka Nwankwo of Chaminade Madonna College Prep (Hollywood, Fla.) is one of Notre Dame's recruiting priorities along the offensive line. The Irish would like to bring in at least four linemen in this recruiting class, but as of now Andrew Nuss is the lone offensive line recruit to commit to the Irish.

Emeka Nwankwo (6-foot-5, 270 pounds) had a great official visit to Notre Dame for the Penn State game. A week later the Irish were soundly defeated by Michigan, but the loss hasn't changed Nwankwo's impression of Notre Dame.

"Not really, it doesn't affect me much," Nwankwo said of Notre Dame's loss to Michigan. "It wasn't too good, but you win some and you lose some.

"I haven't talked to the Notre Dame coach lately, but I've texted them. I did talk to them the day after I left, but I've just been real focused on the season.

Nwankwo is still very interested in Notre Dame, but Florida State and Florida are still very much on his mind. Emeka would still like to visit both campuses prior to making his college decision.

"I don't know when I'll visit Florida, but it should be soon. I might just go on an unofficial just to watch a game," Nwankwo explained. "We haven't set a date for my decision yet, but it should be sometime soon."

Nwankwo and his teammates rolled to a 3-0 start this past weekend with a 41-0 victory over Pampano Beach. This weekend they venture north to play one of the top programs in Ohio.

"This week we play St. Edwards in [Lakewood] Ohio," Nwankwo said. "We're going up there. I'm looking forward to that game. It's going to be a real challenge. It's on Fox Sports Network in Ohio."
