Harrison Smith (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) still has Notre Dame and Tennessee at the top of his list of colleges, but he's planning to take a look at two other SEC programs before he makes his final decision.
"I think I'm going to go down and see the Auburn-Florida game (10/14) and I might go to Alabama to see them play Auburn (11/18)," Smith responded when asked if he planned to take additional visits. "I'm also coming back up to see Notre Dame play Stanford (10/7) for an unofficial."
The Notre Dame visit will be Smith's fourth visit to South Bend, and the Irish are fortunate that he is making a return trip because they have not been played well their last two games against Michigan and Michigan State.
"I caught a little bit of the Michigan game, but I was at the UT/Florida game," Smith said. "I was surprised that they got beat like that. I think it's mostly speed. Michigan had a lot more speed, so it was tough to stop them. Their receivers, Breaston and Manningham were faster.
"I watched the first half of the Michigan State game, but I haven't seen the second half yet. I talked to coach Minter recently and I got a text message from coach Weis after the Michigan State game. Coach Lewis sends a text message every now and then."
Notre Dame will attempt to get back on track against Purdue this weekend, while Smith and his teammates look to keep their season rolling.
"We're 5-0. I haven't gotten a lot of tackles on defense because they're being tackled at the line," Smith said. "Offensively I'm doing pretty good. I have over 500 yards rushing and more than 10 yards a carry. I think I have 11 touchdowns."
