Lorenzo Edwards (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) visited Notre Dame in late April on an unofficial visit. He returned a couple weeks ago when the Irish played Michigan. The Irish didn't play well, but Edwards enjoyed the weekend.
"When I was there this spring I saw all the academic people and different advisors," Edwards said when asked about his official visit to Notre Dame. "The difference in this trip was that it was more in-depth [academically] and I also got to see a game, and witness the atmosphere at Notre Dame, which was pretty cool. I love playing in front of big crowds and having people cheer you on…it was great.
"I met with the Dean of the Architecture school. I also met with the Dean of Admissions, Dr. Saracino. We had accumulated questions since the last time we had been there and they answered all of them, some got answered without even being asked."
Edwards would like to major in architecture in college. The hurdle for Notre Dame is that their program requires students to spend one year in Rome.
"Coach Weis said that he would work with me on that," Edwards said. "He said that I'd still have one more year of eligibility and that I can still come back and play after the one year in Europe. I would just take it as a great experience to build off of and become more successful."
Edwards visited Michigan a couple weeks ago, and he will be in Atlanta next weekend for his next visit.
"I'll be at Georgia Tech next week," Edwards explained. "Florida and Clemson will be my other officials. I don't have set dates yet.
"I'll make my decision after the season and after I've taken all my visits. I'll recap which ones that I liked the most and which ones impressed me the most. I'm still unsure when I'm going to announce at this time."
