Ian Williams (6-foot-2, 300 pounds) made his second visit to Notre Dame. The first trip to see the campus was his official visit for the Penn State game in September.
"The visit went really well," Williams said when asked about his trip. "The official visit was rushed. I got there at 12:30. The game was at 2:30. We went to the game, had dinner, and then went out with the players. We had some academic stuff, so everything was really rushed and I really didn't have enough time to spend with the players and see what Notre Dame was about, which is why I came up for a second time.
Jackson hosted Williams on his official visit. Both are from Florida so Richard was able to explain the adjustments Ian would face if he selects Notre Dame.
"[Richard Jackson] said you get used to the cold," Williams said. "You really don't play in cold because it really doesn't get cold until mid November and you've already played most of your games by then. The academics are great which is why he wanted to come up here.
"Will [Yeatman] said he had a great time up there and that it's a great school, and you can't beat the education. He mainly talked about the academics."
Ian had a chance to speak with the coaches before he left campus. He has enjoyed the approach the Irish coaches have taken. Despite the need at defensive tackle, they have not pressured him to make a decision.
"They coaches said that Notre Dame is a great place and that they really needed me on the defensive line," Williams explained. "They said they hoped I [selected Notre Dame] but if it's a different school that they would wish me nothing but the best of luck. They just wanted me to make the right decision for me."
That decision will happen tomorrow. Williams has decided to announce his college destination at his school.
"I haven't decided on a time but I'm going to announce my decision on Tuesday. I need to get with my coach and we'll decide on a time,' Williams said. "It is between Notre Dame. Auburn. Clemson, and Florida."
