McKnight Talks About His Plans

One of the top players in the country regardless of position is Joe McKnight of John Curtis Christian high school (River Ridge, La.) McKnight has narrowed his list of schools down to five and Notre Dame has made the cut.

Notre Dame has been considered a long shot to land running back Joe McKnight all year. Despite rumblings that the LSU Tigers and USC Trojans lead for his services, Joe contends that the Irish have as good of a chance as any team.

"Notre Dame is in my top five with USC, LSU, Clemson and Arkansas. Everyone is equal," McKnight responded when asked if he was still considering Notre Dame. "We're going to start setting [official visits] up this week, but those are the teams that I will visit.

"I went to the USC camp over the summer. I was out there with family."

"Everyone is recruiting me as a running back," McKnight explained. "I wouldn't have a problem playing wide receiver though. I started playing wide receiver last year. Coach J.T. started moving me around from running back to wide receiver and corner back and safety.

College coaches are making visits to recruits at this stage but, McKnight has a busy schedule, so those will have o wait until after he returns from the U.S. Army All-American game.

"I'll have the in-home in January," McKnight said. "This wouldn't be a real good time because I have a lot of stuff going on. I have to go to Arizona, then New York and then to San Antonio."

"In Arizona I got nominated for an EAS award with three other players, and in New York I got nominated for Player of the Year."
