Notre Dame Offers a Kicker

When Notre Dame figured out that it wouldn't reach the maximum scholarship limit for this recruiting class, they started looking for a kicker. It appears the Irish coaching staff has identified Brandon Walker from Findlay High School (Ohio) as the prospect they would like to add to the 2007 recruiting class.

Brandon Walker could be one of the last players added to this year's recruiting class. The senior kicking specialist received a call from Notre Dame the second week of January, and then received an in-home visit coach Brian Polian last Thursday.

Although Walker is still committed to the University of Louisville, he will be making a trip to South Bend for an official visit.

"Right now I'm kind of taking a break from the media," Walker responded when reached by phone Monday evening. "All I can really say is that I have an offer from Notre Dame, and I'm visiting this weekend. I plan to make a decision by next Wednesday or so."

The way in which this situation is playing out is difficult for Walker. Louisville went through a coaching change recently and up until the middle of last week, the new staff had not been in contact with him.

Notre Dame had not originally intended on bring in a kicker this season, but with the Irish scrambling to piece together their recruiting class, Walker could take one of the unused scholarships. Top Stories
