Knox Is Working Hard This Spring

Running back Milton Knox, Jr. is expecting to have a big season in 2007. The standout from Birmingham High School (Van Nuys, Calif.) will be one of the top prospects in California and he would like to hear more from Notre Dame.

After rushing for 2,374 yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior, Milton Knox (5-foot-8, 200 pounds) is expected to be one of the top running back recruits in the nation. Knox had Notre Dame high on his list of prospective schools, but as of late the Irish haven't been showing as much interest as they had been.

"I'd like to hear more from them, but I haven't been talking to them as of late," Knox responded when ask about his interest in Notre Dame. "I don't know if they've been busy with spring ball, but I really haven't been talking to the Irish. I'm still getting mail from them and stuff. I've gotten some text messages from coach Polian, but the last time I got a text message from him was about a month ago. I don't know what happened."

Knox won't be waiting on the Irish to get back in the mix. He is hearing from a number of top programs and he's going to focus on getting to know them better.

"I'm just going to some junior days and visiting some places," Knox explained. "I have offers from UCLA, San Diego State, Arizona, and Ole Miss. I went to the USC junior day [Sunday]. I got a chance to see how they run things. I'm going to be going to the Oregon and Cal junior days in a couple weeks.

"I'm going to go the Nike camps to do the one-on-ones. I'm going to the ‘B2D' camp in Florida. The camp is invitation only and only the top players get to go. It's the first time I've been out to Florida. I'm going out there to visit and see how it is out there. I won't be able to go to the one in California because we'll have two-a-days during that same time."

Knox is expecting big things for his team next season and this spring will be the building blocks toward a championship.

"We're working hard. We want to get to the state championship," Know said. "At the end of the day, if I have a ring on my finger I'll know it was all worth it. We have spring practice for about three or four weeks. We practice, but it's not in full pads. We're just working out seven-on-seven.

"This year we have a lot of people coming back. We'll basically be a senior oriented team. We have a lot of talent and a lot of leaders. We'll just try to come out of the season with a city championship and then hopefully a state championship. That's why we're working hard now, just so that we can get to that point."
