Notre Dame on the Outside Looking In

Notre Dame has had an interest in a lot of players this year. They can't land all the players and two players from the south appear to have eliminated Notre Dame at this point.

Notre Dame really likes tailback Kregg Lumpkin. Lumpkin has been very hard to catch and I reached him last night. I finally reached him and the news was not good. "I plan to visit Georgia, Miami, Auburn, Texas and Alabama. I think I have narrowed it down to those schools. I asked Kregg if Notre Dame was recruiting him and if he had interest in the school. "They are recruiting me, it's just too far. It's a good school but I really don't have any interest in them."

Another player the Irish appear to be on the outside looking in for is Alabama's Mitchell Thomas. Earlier, Thomas had shown some interest in Notre Dame but that interest has dwindled. "I know I will visit Alabama, after that, I don't really know. I plan to set up my visits in December and then take my visits." I asked Mitchell if he thought it was likely he would end up in SEC country. "Yeah, I would say that is probable. I am pretty sure I will be playing football is SEC country next year."

You can't win them all and I wouldn't say Notre Dame is completely out of it for Thomas. They are out of it for Lumpkin. Top Stories
