Notre Dame appears to be searching for taller defensive backs that have the ability to play corner. Ugo Okpara (6-foot-1 , 180 pounds) is a prospect they have looked at in the past and although the Irish haven't been in touch with Junior recently, it may be a matter of time.
"I got three new offers, so that's coming along good," Okpara responded when asked about his recruitment. "Miami offered me and so did Duke and Missouri. I already had offers from Baylor, Rice, Virginia, Oklahoma State, so all of this is just making my decision a whole lot harder.
"If Notre Dame offered, I'd have to go right back to the drawing board and look at all the pros and cons. Miami, Notre Dame and Oklahoma State would be at the top of my list if they offered. Notre Dame is just a great opportunity. If they offered it would make my decision really tough. I just want to pick the school that's right for me.
"Since recruiting has picked back up, I haven't heard from Notre Dame, but they may have been at my school," Okpara said. "I realize that they were going through spring ball, so it was hard for them to stay in contact with me. Getting a scholarship from Notre Dame would be an honor.
"If Notre Dame offered me a scholarship they would have a great shot. If Notre Dame offered, that would slow everything down some, because I'd want to talk to the coaches. I'd want to get to know the coaching staff and go from there. I'm not going to close the door just yet.
"I like Miami because of the environment that they're in and where it's located," Okpara explained. "But I'm looking for the school that'll fit me perfectly whether it's Notre Dame or Oklahoma State or Miami. I'm going to pick the right school for me. I've been to Miami before on vacation so I have an idea of what it's like.
"I wanted to make my decision before next season, but I might make my decision real soon. I just want to see what other offers come through and then I might make my decision."
