Williams makes it No. 11

Hafis Williams, a defensive tackle from Elizabeth, N.J., gave a verbal commitment to Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis on Tuesday, making him the 11th player in the class of 2008 to do so.

Hafis Williams has said several times that his grandmother would play an integral part in his decision, and she gave Notre Dame the thumbs up.

"I talked to coach Weis yesterday," Williams grandmother said. "He said he had to clear it with me, and I told him if that's where he wants to go, I'm all for that. So he did commit yesterday."

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound Williams had 106 tackles and six sacks last season, helping Elizabeth High to a state championship. All three starting linebackers also had over 100 tackles with Williams eating up a few blockers in front of them.

Williams picked the Irish over Rutgers, Penn State and Maryland. More coming from Irish Eyes later.
