Chancey Aghayere (6-foot-4, 246 pounds) still has scholarship offers rolling in. This week he received scholarship offers from Georgia and Kansas State. Although Chancey is grateful for the invitations, he has already narrowed his list of options to five.
"Texas, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma. Those are the schools that I'm going to choose from," Aghayere responded when asked to update his recruitment. "I have spoken with coach Ianello and coach Weis in the past, but I haven't really spoken to them much lately. I don't know if they stopped by school this week or not, but we've been e-mailing each other and I've been getting a lot of mail."
Growing up in Texas, Aghayere doesn't know that much about Notre Dame, but there are a few things that have kept the Irish in contention for his signature.
"If you graduate from Notre Dame, its like graduating from an Ivy League school," Aghayere said. "I really don't know much about the coaching staff except coach Ianello and coach Weis. Coach Weis seems like a down to earth coach. He seems like one of my coaches. They seem like they have the same personality. They're both down-to-earth and I think coach Weis could motivate me."
If Notre Dame is going to have a chance at landing Aghayere, they will need to get him on campus. He's already visited two of his favorites and he's already planning on official visit.
"I'm going to try to go see Notre Dame, but I haven't made any plans at this moment. I'm going to try to get up there this summer," Aghayere said. "I've already been to a Texas junior day and an Oklahoma junior day. I might visit LSU this summer for one of their camps. I might go to the Texas camp as well.
"I'm going to Florida for an official visit after my second game. I already have that planned out. After I get back from Florida I'll make my decision. Then I'm announcing my commitment the week after my birthday (September 17) or the week of my birthday."
As a junior, Aghayere collected 60 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and four sacks.
