Notre Dame would like to add at least one additional offensive lineman to this recruiting class. A great addition to the roster would be Josh Jenkins (6-foot-4, 285 pounds). Jenkins has interest in the Irish and he recently received a visit from the Notre Dame coaching staff.
"Coach Weis and coach Latina just came to my school last Friday," Jenkins responded when asked about his contact with the Irish staff. "They talked to my coach for a little while, but I didn't ask many questions [about their conversation]. He did say that they were pretty good people and that's he's running a pretty good program.
"I talk to coach Latina all the time, maybe once a week. He's a pretty cool guy. I haven't gotten a chance to hang out with him like have some of the other coaches. Things are going well though… I like him a lot."
Jenkins has a wealth of college options and despite the rush of coaches trying to get his attention, Josh is enjoying the recruiting process.
"I can't complain. I have most of the big schools in the nation have offered me a full ride," Jenkins said. "Who wouldn't be happy? It's a blessing. Not many people have the opportunities that I have. Some times things drag a little bit, but for the most part I'm having fun with it.
"I don't have a date set for my decision, but I know what I'm looking for. All the facilities that you go to are going to have the nicest things, because they're Division I football schools. It really comes down to the people that surround you. I just want to find the right people and the place that I'm going to feel the most comfortable. I want to meet the different coaches so they have a chance to get to know me. That's why I want to take trips to all these different schools."
Jenkins is just starting to plan his summer travel schedule and the Irish should be one of the schools he visits.
"I want to go to both of the Florida schools, Florida and Florida State," Jenkins explained. "I want to go to Alabama and I want to go to Notre Dame. At the end of the summer I'm going to narrow things down and let everyone know where they stand. I'll take my five official visits."
