Patchan Would Like To Take Summer Visits

Summer is just around the corner and that is the time most recruits get an opportunity to take unofficial visits. One of the top offensive linemen in the country, Matt Patchan of Armwood High School (Seffner, Fla.), hasn't made any firm plans just yet, but he does intend to visit several schools.

Matt Patchan (6-foot-7, 255 pounds) is on just about everyone's wish list. Notre Dame is one of the teams that would like to add him to their roster, and they recently stopped in to visit Matt at his school.

"Coach Latina, coach Parmalee and coach Weis came by my school," Patchan responded when asked about his contact with the Notre Dame staff. "I wasn't able to go to school the day that coach Weis stopped in, so I missed him. I was very upset about that. I would have like to have just been able to say hi and shake his hand. I'll get a chance to meet him eventually though.

"I've had a chance to talk to coach Weis on the phone a couple of times and I think he's a great coach. When I've spoken with him, from what I've read and from what I've heard, he's a very honorable man. When you talk to him and get to know him, you just end up liking him.

"I've gotten a chance to talk to coach Latina, the offensive line coach and coach Parmalee," Patchan said. "They seemed like good guys and good coaches, so I was excited to get a chance to talk to them.

"I think Notre Dame has a lot of special things to offer and I'm excited that I have the chance to take advantage of them. I'm excited to have the chance to explore all of the opportunities."

Patchan hasn't been able to visit Notre Dame, but if he is able to make the time, he'll make the trip.

"Spring football is coming to an end in a couple of days, so I'm not really in a position to make plans or decisions, but I'd love to be able to make it up to South Bend," Patchan said. "I'm going to try my best to get up there for an unofficial visit, its whether or not I can fit it into my schedule. I'll be working out every day with my team, so it's going to be tough for me to plan around that. If I have to take a couple days off I may, but I'm just not sure yet.

"I don't have any trips planned yet, but this summer I'm going to try and hit as many schools as I can. LSU, Georgia, Auburn, and Alabama are a couple of the others that I'd like to visit. I'm going to get out and visit as many as I can. Its just a matter of how much time I have." Top Stories
