One offer that Zebrie Sanders (6-foot-6, 273 pounds) doesn't have on his list is Notre Dame. The Irish have been recruiting him since last fall, but they haven't pulled the trigger on an offer.
"I did go to their junior day in January," Sanders replied when asked about his interest in Notre Dame. "It's one of the best campuses that I've been to. I definitely came away impressed with Notre Dame. I like the facilities and the tradition.
"About two weeks ago I talked to coach Brown and he said that he was going to come to my school, but some things came up and he wasn't able to make it. He's been the guy calling me and texting me. He said that they all liked my tape, but they'd like to see a couple more things from me before they decided to offer me.
"They'd like me to come to one of their one-day camps so their offensive line coach can see me run through some drills," Sanders said. "I'm probably going to lay low this summer, because I did a lot of combines last summer. This summer I want to stay in Clayton and work with my team. We want to get better as a whole and make a run in the state play-offs. I want to stay focused and show everyone that I'm a leader. This recruiting thing isn't the No. 1 thing that I'm worried about, my team comes first.
"To be honest they're not really recruiting me that hard. They're still one of the schools that I'm considering, but they're not one of my top schools because they haven't offered me."
The Irish would jump into the race with an offer, but they will need to make a decision soon, because Sanders is ready to move on.
"I definitely will need to start narrowing things down soon, but I really don't want to narrow things down right now," Sanders explained. "I'll still listen to schools if they want to recruit me, but for now my top schools are, Florida, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, South Carolina, Louisville, Florida State, Arkansas and Stanford.
"At some point during the summer I'll start narrowing things down more. I'll look at all the schools that have offered and decide where I want to take my official visits. I've tried to wait around, but I really don't have much more time to wait.
"I'm definitely going to go out to Southern Cal to see their campus and work out with them personally this summer," Sanders said. "They're haven't offered, but they're showing good interest and they said that they'd be down next week.
"I'm definitely going to sit down with my coach and my family and start figuring out which schools I'm going to take my official visits to. Right now I already know that I'm going to take visits to Florida, Clemson and Georgia. I'm thinking Stanford will get one, but I don't know what the other one would be."
