Baldwin Looking At Notre Dame Today

Notre Dame has room in this recruiting class for at least one more wide receiver and possibly two receivers. Jonathan Baldwin from Aliquippa High School (Pa.) is a prospect the Notre Dame coaching staff is very high on and he'll be in South Bend today to take a look at the Irish program.

There hasn't been a lot of talk about Jonathan Baldwin (6-foot-6, 215 pounds), but the Notre Dame staff has been recruiting him heavily.

"I talked to coach Weis once when he offered me and I've spoken with coach Latina. I get a text message from coach Latina probably every other day, but I really don't talk to them very often," Baldwin responded when asked about his contact with the Irish staff.

"Notre Dame is a good school. Everyone has the goal to make it to the NFL, but if I didn't make it, I know I'd get a great job when I graduated from Notre Dame. My first priority is education and to graduate."

Since Notre Dame hasn't had much time to speak with Baldwin, it is important to get him on campus in order to show him what the university can offer.

"In fact, I'm going out to Notre Dame [Thursday]," Baldwin said. "I'm going out with my assistant coach. I don't know what we're going to be doing, but I think they know what they need to do in order to get someone to come to their school.

"I suppose I'll meet with coach Weis, and get a feel for the campus. I want to get acquainted with the wide receivers coach and get a chance to see how they do things."

Baldwin won't be stopping at any other schools on this trip, but he would like to get on the road again this summer in order to narrow down his list of schools.

"I'm not sure if I'll take any more visits over the summer, but I'd like to," Baldwin explained. "I have a top ten now, but I only want to name six right now; Notre Dame, Pitt, Florida, USC, Florida State and Michigan. There are some schools that I've always been interested in, like Michigan, and others that I've become interested in once they started recruiting me and when they came through with a scholarship offer.

‘I'd like to get a top five schools by August, but after that I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'd like to take some visits during the season, but I don't know if my schedule will allow me to. If we go to the play-offs, I don't know how much time I'll have to make trips. After my trips I'll sit down and think about things and make a decision close to signing day."
