Andrew Sweat (6-foot-3, 230 pounds) has been busy visiting schools throughout the spring. He made his first trip to Notre Dame in March, and he came away impressed with the Irish football program. Sweat said that he wanted to make a return trip to Notre Dame and that occurred over the weekend.
"I wanted to come out again and experience the campus again," Sweat responded when asked about his recent visit to Notre Dame. "Coach Weis took me on a tour of the campus, which was cool. I wouldn't say that I really found out anything new about Notre Dame. I was really just taking things in and getting a feel for the campus.
"I'm just trying to get as much information as I can so I can make an educated decision. I flew out last time I visited and I wanted to drive out this time and get a feel for how long of a drive it really was."
Sweat will likely reach a decision sooner rather than later. He had recently named his final six colleges as Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida, Penn State and Pitt, but since then Andrew has narrowed it down to two schools.
"It's probably going to come down to Notre Dame and Ohio State," Sweat said. "I'm going to sit down with my parents in the next couple weeks and talk about everything, and I hope to make a decision sometime after that.
"I think I'm pretty comfortable with everything at Notre Dame. It's a great school. I think I'm comfortable with everything at Ohio State as well."
As a junior, Sweat had 165 tackles – 13 for loss – and 4 sacks and 2 interceptions. He was named first-team Class AAA all-state by The Associated Press for his efforts.
