Thompson Is Making Travel Plans

For the past month the Notre Dame staff has been traveling the country, visiting as many recruiting prospects as they could. Defensive end Everette Thompson of John F. Kennedy High School (Burien, Wash.) is one of the top prospects on the West coast and he was on the hit list.

Everette Thompson (6-foot-5, 240 pounds) traveled to South Bend back in March to get a look at the Notre Dame campus. During the May evaluation period, the Irish staff repaid Thompson, by stopping by his high school to check in on him.

"They did stop in to my high school," Thompson responded when asked about his contact with the Notre Dame staff. "I haven't spoken with coach Oliver lately. I've talked to them little bit, I'm not sure where I'm at with them. I still want to here more from them. I'm still at the stage where I'm looking at everyone.

"All the coaches have been calling so everything has been kind of crazy. It's hard to get back with everybody that's called, but I try. I'm still enjoying the recruiting and everything. I'm just trying to take it in.

"I'm very open right now," Thompson said. "Everybody is pretty even right now, until I get a chance to look at all the schools. Hopefully by the middle of summer I'll be able to narrow my schools down some and then I'd like to have a decision by the end of my football season after I take some of my visits."

Thompson has scholarship offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Oregon, Washington, Washington State, Minnesota and Nebraska. He is also still receiving attention from other big-time programs.

"I am starting to hear quite a bit from USC right now. I'd like to see them offer," Thompson said. "I'm trying to find the school that's the right fit for me. I'm working on scheduling [unofficial] visits. I'll probably try to visit a lot of schools this summer, but I don't know if I'll go to any team camps.

"I think I'll go to Boise State, the Arizona schools, and the California schools. Right now we're just planning the visits. I want to look at what they have to offer. I want to see the campuses and look at the academics and all that stuff. I'm looking at all the different schools individually and seeing what they have to offer.

Last season Thompson had 12 receptions for 280 yards and five touchdowns as a tight end. At defensive end he registered over 50 tackles and four sacks. Top Stories
