"Isaiah (Gardner) just committed to Notre Dame," said head coach Chris Beatty. "I think what put Notre Dame on top was coach (Tyrone) Willingham. He's a great coach and a better person.
"Isaiah is 5-foot-10, 190-pounds and runs a 4.4 in the 40. What separates Isaiah from others is his work ethic. He's a very hard worker.
"Isaiah has excellent explosion and excelaration. He has great hands and he could play running back, wide receiver or cornerback.
"Coach Willingham said that he'll (Gardner) will either play running back or cornerback. The decision will be Isaiah's to make because they'll have needs at both positions.
Gardner, from Virginia Beach (VA) Salem chose the Fighting Irish over Tennessee and Oklahoma.
